Welcome to Mount Royal University, where for more than 100 years, our focus has been on the success of our students.
Mount Royal is an undergraduate university focused on teaching and learning informed by scholarship. That emphasis on teaching and learning is, in fact, what drew me to this university in August 2011, when I became Mount Royal’s ninth president.
All universities take tremendous pride in the role we play in transforming young students into engaged members of society, and Mount Royal is no exception.
One illustration of this is Mount Royal’s commitment to involving our undergraduate students in primary research, an opportunity usually only available at the graduate or post-graduate level.
Another is the 10 Mount Royal Bachelor of Business Administration students who presented their research at national and international conferences in the summer of 2011 alongside graduate and post-graduate colleagues.
Mount Royal graduates, past and present, contribute to our community — people like retired General John de Chastelain, and Tim Richter, who is President and CEO of the Calgary Homeless Foundation. They are key players in Calgary’s economy, working in the energy sector or establishing successful businesses, like Nicola Kozmyk’s Pure Motion dance studio. They are establishing themselves on the world stage, like Paul Brandt, who is renowned for his humanitarian work with World Vision and Samaritan’s Purse.
These students and many more represent the depth of our faculties and schools, but they are just some of our student success stories. I invite you to explore our website and discover the many ways Mount Royal University prepares students for further studies; for work; for a life that will realize a world of possibilities.
I also invite you to visit my blog, where I post monthly on issues and ideas that are important to the campus community and the communities we serve.
