These workshops are for students in Arts (all majors), University Entrance Option, Open Studies or Academic Upgrading.
Goals
Academic advisors at Mount Royal University strive to enable students to
- make a successful transition to MRU
- take responsibility for learning how to set academic, career and personal goals as well as,
- develop strategies for achieving their goals.
Students are responsible for:
- understanding degree and program requirements as outlines in the MRU Academic calendar
- making decisions based upon their best judgment and informed by the best advice available to them
- registering in courses and arranging schedules
- arranging, preparing for, and attending advising appointments
- seeking out information related to planning their academic program
- questioning discrepancies between mruGradU8 and the degree requirements outlined in the Academic calendar
- disclosing all current and previous academic history
- Student resources
Advisors are responsible for:
- providing clear and accurate explanations of MRU policies, procedures and resources
- helping students understand degree and program requirements and why the exist
- engaging students in the academic planning process
- making appropriate referrals to other services on campus
- advocating for students when the student requires further assistance
