Packages are only accepted from departments for instructors, or from instructors to departments.

- Can Security lock and unlock my classroom door for lunch?
As it not a safe practice to store items in a classroom, even if it is locked, scheduled classrooms are unlocked in the morning and secured when no longer in use.

- Can Security provide me with a boost for my dead battery?
Although Security is not able to boost your vehicle, we are able to loan booster cables upon receipt of your driver's license.

- If Security asks to see my Campus Card am I obliged to show it?
Yes. Anyone using Mount Royal facilities is required to produce their Campus Card upon request of any agent of the owner of the property.

- Is the University open 24 hours a day?
Mount Royal is open daily from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. You can access the University during off-hours via the West Gate. A Campus Card is required to gain access.

- Is there a paging system?
There is no paging system at Mount Royal. This ensures that students are not interrupted in their classes, exams or studies.

- The parking machine ate my money, what do I do?
Should the machine eat your money, you can contact the Parking Office at 403.440.6914, or go to EA 1016 and speak directly to a customer service representative.

You can contact the machine operators City Coin; the contact number is on the vending machine.

- What are the hours for the EA, EB and EC Buildings?
Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sat. 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. These buildings are closed Sundays and holidays.

Activate the nearest "Pull Station", located near every exit. If you smell smoke, exit the building and contact Security at 403.440.5900.

- What methods are used to assist the department in meeting its mandate?
We use a number of different methods. Computerized intrusion alarms, CCTV and fire alarm systems are used extensively, but the most successful time-proven method of providing adequate and efficient security is still people communicating with people. In recognizing this need, our department consists of 27 full-time personnel.

- Where are the bank machines?
Bank machines are located in Wyckham House, at the East Gate, the Recreation entrance, and Tim Hortons.

- Where do I get a parking pass?
You can obtain your parking pass at the Parking Office (EA1016). The hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m – 4:30 p.m and Fridays from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. The parking office is closed on weekends and holidays. Evening and weekend passes for students are available at the Conservatory Office (W302), Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Passes are available for recreation users at the recreation customer service desk.

- Where can I get my Campus Card encoded for labs?
Campus Cards are encoded by Security Operations in office X200E, adjacent to the Security Office, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

- Where can I study?
You can study in most areas except in classrooms which are not booked and any secured wings or buildings. Study areas are located on the 1st level T wing and second level Y wing.

- Where can I get change for the parking meters?
Change for the parking meters can be obtained from the Parking Office (EA 1016). There are also change machines located on the second level of the Science Hall and in the Library.

- Where is the Bookstore?
The Bookstore is located on the 1st level. The hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Bookstore is also open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

- Do I have to produce my Campus Card when requested?
The Campus Card agreement stipulates you must produce your Campus Card if asked to do so by a University Official. This would include a Security Officer.

- When do I have to sign in at the West Gate?
If you are a student and want to remain in the Main Building after 11:00 pm, you must produce your Campus Card and sign in at Security Services. This is done for safety purposes, and in the event the Main Building needs to be evacuated after hours.
If you are a Faculty or Staff member, Security Services encourage you to let us know by telephone if you are working late. This way we can check on you. It is just as important to let us know when you have left for the night.
