This course is open to international students, landed immigrants and Canadian citizens who are internationally educated nurses, midwives and physicians and need to improve their communication and language skills to succeed in their profession in Canada. The course provides a performance-based curriculum that focuses on role play scenarios with simulation patients, a pre and post-assessment using the Institutional CELBAN test, and an orientation to Canadian health care system and culture. The CSHP course is recognized by the Multi-jurisdictional Midwifery Program and by the Bridge to Canadian Nursing program at MRU.

Prerequisite: CLB 7 in Listening and Speaking and CLB 6 in Reading OR IELTS Academic 6 with minimum 6 in Speaking and Listening OR TOEFL iBT® 80 with minimum 18 in Speaking. You must also have an interview to confirm suitability for the program.
