David Docherty, PhD
President

David Docherty, PhD, became Mount Royal University’s ninth President on Aug. 1, 2011. An accomplished academic, author and administrator, Docherty comes to Mount Royal from Wilfrid Laurier University where he served as Senior Advisor on Multi-Campus Initiatives. Before that, he was Dean of Laurier’s Faculty of Arts.

Manuel Mertin is Acting Provost and Vice-President, Academic at Mount Royal until the University’s new Provost, Kathryn Shailer, assumes her role on Aug. 15, 2013. As the chief academic officer for the institution, Dr. Mertin works with the university’s management team, faculty and staff to provide innovative academic programs designed to facilitate student success.

Vice-President, University Advancement

Hope Henderson joined Mount Royal University in August 2012 as Vice-President, University Advancement. As a stakeholder relations expert, with more than 20 years’ experience, Ms. Henderson has successfully practiced or led this function for some of North America’s most challenging and controversial energy projects.

Brian Fleming supports the success and satisfaction of students as Vice-President of Student Affairs and Campus Life at Mount Royal. He works to understand the changing needs of students and to apply this knowledge to student services within Mount Royal and to his profession.
