Joan Barlow has a Bachelor of Commerce, major in accounting, and a Chartered Accountant (CA) professional accounting designation. She was the Alberta Silver Medalist the year she wrote her uniform final examination. She has a rich background in both post-secondary education and business. In her eleven years as a part-time instructor, and two years as a full-time university faculty member, she has taught extensively in the accounting area, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced financial accounting as well as management accounting. She is well respected by the people she has worked with at John Wiley & Sons on introductory accounting textbooks. Her professional experience as both a Chartered Accountant and a consultant allow Ms. Barlow to draw from a range of experiences to supplement material covered in her courses. She also has extensive volunteer experience.
