Jazz History Survey

Instructor: Mark DeJong

A multi-media dialogue on the history of Jazz — from the origins of Jazz in Ragtime and Blues to present day Neo-Traditionalists such as Wynton Marsalis. All the major jazz trends and styles will be discussed, as well as the great performers and innovators who contributed to the evolution of jazz over the last century. The course will include lectures, readings, recordings and videos.
