Admission Requirements

Post-secondary Applicants

General admission requirements

The required high school course and minimum and competitive Grade Point Average (GPA) required for admission vary by program. In addition to viewing these admission pages, it is important to review the specific requirements for the program you are considering.

High School courses

All final official high school transcripts are required for admission assessment regardless of the level achieved. Each academic program at Mount Royal requires the successful completion of specific high school courses. The completion of these courses is necessary to ensure you have sufficient background to be successful in the program. Equivalent post-secondary courses may be substituted for required high school subjects. Required courses vary by program, please review the Admission Requirements chart to see which courses are required for your program of choice.

Competitive GPA

Admission is competitive, meaning students with higher GPA will be considered first. The competitive average varies from program to program and from year to year.

Fall Semester: calculated on your four most recently completed transferable post-secondary courses completed by Dec. 31.
Winter Semester: calculated on your eight most recently completed transferable post-secondary courses completed by Aug. 31.

Minimum GPA

To be eligible for admission, you must present a minimum GPA. Unless a specific (higher) GPA has been indicated for your program of choice, post-secondary applicants are normally required to have a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA). Some programs require a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Fall Semester: calculated on your eight most recently completed transferable post-secondary courses completed by June 30.
Winter Semester: calculated on your eight most recently completed transferable post-secondary courses completed by Aug. 31.

Additional criteria

A limited number of programs also require additional criteria such as an interview or portfolio. It is important to review the requirements for the specific program you are considering.

Post-secondary transcripts and transfer equivalents/credit

All final, official post-secondary transcripts are required for admission and potential transfer equivalency assessment regardless of whether the institution and the courses are university level. This assessment will be available for you to view through mymru.ca and you will also be able to see how these courses transfer into your specific program once you have been admitted and have paid your non-refundable Tuition Deposit.

Fall Semester: Official post-secondary transcripts showing completion of the Fall Semester (Dec. 31) must be received by Feb. 1 to be considered for Early Admission. Final, official post-secondary transcripts showing all courses completed by June 30 are required following the completion of the Winter Semester or (where applicable) the Spring Semester and must be received by Aug. 1.
