Sexual Violence Response & Awareness

Dating, Domestic and Sexual Violence

mrugetsconsent_webheaderDating, domestic and sexual violence can have many far reaching impacts on a person and a community. It is a pervasive concern that the Diversity and Human Rights Office takes seriously by working to support survivors in finding healing and justice, and promoting a community of consent, care and respect.

The response and awareness program works to support the MRU community through:

Sexual Violence Response Team
Provides support and addresses the needs and concerns of those impacted by dating, domestic or sexual violence.

Education and Awareness
Delivers workshops and programming about dating and sexual violence with community partners. <workshop link>

Information
Provides relevant resources and information to the MRU community about dating and sexual violence.

Reporting and Complaints
Informs about reporting options and processes within MRU and the legal system.

We recognize that sexual violence occurs within a social context of inequality and that interlocking systems of oppression influence how trauma is experienced. Healing and recovery looks differently for each individual and their identity location (race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, etc.) impacts what form of support and resources are wanted or needed. We respect and affirm each survivor’s choices in their healing and are committed to taking their direction in how we support.
