Our Student Counselling Services provides comprehensive services to the post-secondary community. These services include the following:
Personal Counselling – Assist students in identifying issues and resolving problems that may be interfering with their personal and academic development.
Career Counselling – Assist students in making educational decisions that translate into a successful career path.
Educational Counselling – Provides students with the essential skills and resources to increase academic success and enhance retention.
Presentations – Provides presentations and workshops within counsellor areas of expertise.
Training – Provides peer support training and residence assistant training.
Committee Work – Contributes to the post-secondary community through committee representation.
Our Student Counselling Services offers practicum placements for students in M.Sc., M.Ed., and Ph.D. programs. The placements are to assist universities in providing practicum and/or internship supervision for applied psychology graduate students.
Practicums generally run from September to April and students are on-site about 2.0 to 3.0 days per week (depending on their course requirements).

|Personal and career counselling (individuals)|
|Group work (observing or co-facilitating)|
|Individual, weekly supervision|
|Co-counselling with supervisor (usually weekly) and opportunity to co-counsel or observe other counsellors|
|Peer supervision seminars with a counsellor and all other practicum students|
|Reflection team (with a counsellor and all other practicum students using the one-way glass)|
|Professional development seminars – all staff present once a year (including practicum students), and sometimes guests are invited in to speak|
|Case consultation meetings (with the entire counselling team)|
Thank you for your interest in completing a practicum placement at Mount Royal University, Student Counselling Services. We welcome applications from Masters of Counselling students who have completed the first year of their Masters and who are looking for a September to April placement. Applicants must be able to commit to two full days a week in the Fall term and three full days a week during the Winter term.
Student Counselling Services does not have the capacity to discuss placements one-on-one. Please consider attending our information session:
