Strategic Sustainability and the Energy Industry
This course will deliver a high-level overview of sustainability and its three fundamentals pillars: Environment, Society, and Economics. We will consider sustainability from a systems perspective; particular foci of the course will include stakeholder relations and the energy industry within a strategic sustainability context. Beginning with seminal definitions of Sustainable Development, we will examine how views and approaches have progressed, what tensions exist and how these approaches and tensions affect human life and the planet. Finally, we will challenge students to critically assess issues facing the energy industry in consideration of balancing sustainability elements.
