Accounting software programs help you record and report financial transactions in an organization.

Learn the basics of computerized accounting in this short, flexible certificate that provides benefits to your business and personal pursuits. Build your bookkeeping skills to support your small business or acquire accounting techniques that are valued in any office setting. Experienced instructors lead your learning in our on-campus computer labs. Take individual courses as they suit your needs or complete the certificate to demonstrate your competencies to an employer.

Learn basic bookkeeping concepts and explore the terminology needed to effectively use software such as QuickBooks and Simply Accounting (Sage 50). Gain a greater understanding of accounting features, including accounts payable and receivable, the accounting cycle and financial reporting. Learn more about data entry, cash flows, sales tax, inventory adjustments, tracking expenses and sending invoices.

Apply your learning in a practical exercise by setting up a fictitious company and completing transactions and procedures involved in an accounting cycle. Once you have foundational knowledge, increase your scope by practicing handling inventory adjustments, customizing the payroll journal, creating fiscal year comparative reports and more.
