Are you interested in rejoining the work force or simply updating your computer application and bookkeeping skills? These certificate programs are designed to do just that.

Computer Skills for the Office (144 hours) teaches you the fundamentals of today’s most commonly used PC-based operating system (Windows), as well as the most prevalent office software package (MS Office). In Office Computer and Bookkeeping (210 hours) you add computerized bookkeeping (Simply Accounting and QuickBooks). The Computer Skills Integration courses allow you to combine your software skills and complete in-class projects. Both certificate programs allow you to become proficient in using the Internet.

Requirements
To take these programs, you must be able to use a mouse and keyboard. For complete computer beginners, we suggest you take Introduction to the PC before beginning this program.

By registering for the entire program at once you save 20% on the cost of individual courses.

These programs also prepare you for the three IC3 Certification assessments so you can earn a widely recognized certification at the same time as you earn your Mount Royal University extension certificate. Earning Your Certificate
Complete the required courses listed in the schedule above with a minimum grade of 75% and successful completion of all classroom assignments and exercises.

Please note that each of the courses is also open to students are registered for individual classes.

Career Outlook
Up-to-date training in the most common PC-based software programs is valuable in any workplace setting. Successful completion of the Computer Skills for the Office Certificate may lead to an entry-level position in an office, and successful completion of the Office Computer & Bookkeeping Certificate may lead to an entry-level office position with bookkeeping responsibilities.

Evaluation/Attendance Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 75% attendance is required for each course, plus completion of all in-class classroom assignments and exercises. (Grade will appear on transcript as either "Pass" or "Fail".)
  2. Successful completion of all courses in the program is required to receive your certificate.

Computer Skills Integration, Level 1
Building on the computer fundamentals acquired during the first part of your computer skills certificate, further refine your abilities and gain confidence in this course. Integrate the software packages you have learned so far by completing several graded, in-class workplace simulation projects.
Note: We strongly recommend completion of MS Word, Level 1; MS Excel, Level 1 and MS PowerPoint, Level 1 before registering in this course.
