Tuition
Costs for textbooks and practicum materials are additional and estimated to be $1,500. Accommodation, travel and incidental expenses should be expected for students completing the Intensive Summer Institute. Tuition and materials fees are payable per semester and are subject to change without notice.

Scholarship
The Canadian Funeral Trade Association provides an annual scholarship of $1,000 to a full-time student enrolled in the second term of the Funeral Director and Embalmer Certificate. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit.
Computer Literacy
Basic computer literacy, file management skills, and access to and skills in word processing are required for successful completion of any funeral service certificate. You are expected to possess or take the initiative to acquire these skills prior to applying to a funeral service certificate. Use of a personal computer, printer and connection to the Internet (DSL or cable modem is recommended) is required in order to access vital program and course information.

This site is where you will retrieve the student handbook, course registration numbers, textbook information, final exam schedules and more. Information on how to access this site will be provided in your admission package. It is recommended you visit the Funeral Student Resource Site daily to ensure you obtain vital program information and announcements.

Blackboard is a Learning Management System used by instructors and staff to create online environments for learning. Blackboard provides access to your instructor, course outlines, announcements and assignments, and allows you to participate in discussions with instructors and classmates.

Career Outlook
Graduates of our Funeral Service certificates are eligible for licensing in Alberta by the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board.
Each province has its own licensing regulations governing the funeral service profession. Contact the licensing agency for the province in which you intend to work to ensure completion of these programs will meet licensing requirements.
Funeral directors' earnings vary depending on location and ownership of the funeral home. According to the 2009 Alberta Wage and Salary Survey, Albertans in the Funeral Directors and Embalmers group earned from $13.00 to $44.38 an hour. The average wage was $21.36 an hour.
