Under the direction of Natalie DeJong, this course is open to brass players of high school age or older who wish to “broaden their horizons” in playing chamber music in a fun, dynamic atmosphere.
Players will tap into the history of music from the vantage point of brass ensemble repertoire. Covering a wide range of styles from early Renaissance and Baroque music to classical transcriptions and original works, players will develop a sense of style while focusing on sound, balance, and blend within the ensemble.
Sessions will include performing, listening, and leading the ensemble. The course will be performance focused and participants will work toward building and performing a full program.
Acceptance to the ensemble will be by informal auditions. Applicants should prepare two short contrasting solos, studies or etudes for a 15-minute audition. No accompaniment necessary. To arrange for an audition, call 403.440.6839
Not offered in Fall 2012. For more information, contact Natalie DeJong, 403.993.5376.
