Join our celebration of International Women's Day
Celebrate International Women's Day beginning March 8 by watching and listening to a series of pre-recorded interviews with remarkable women leaders. The event is presented by the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies and Alberta's regional arm of the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH), which is housed within the Bissett School of Business. The WEKH recently launched a new website and works to support Alberta's women entrepreneurs through information, resources and connection.

Faculty experts share simple tips for a healthy body
Four faculty members from the Department of Health and Physical Education representing each of the majors demonstrate easy ways to maintain a healthy body. Watch their upbeat video and find more information and resources on the Wellness at Work website.

Plan ahead for full campus closure May 21 to May 24
Employees who are normally on campus should plan to work remotely or take a vacation day on Friday, May 21 if possible. There will be no phones or network connectivity in the main building, EA and EB. Employees working remotely will be able to continue as normal except that access to your MRU desktop through VPN and remote desktop will not be available. These buildings will be fully closed throughout the long weekend. Questions can be directed to fm@mtroyal.ca.

Career Services Winter Workshop series
From March 8 to 31, Career Services is offering a series of workshops focused on helping students apply for remote work opportunities, build virtual networks, develop career competencies and create resumés that stand out. Celebrate! Teaching & Learning at MRU: Call for Proposals
The Celebrate! Teaching & Learning at MRU event will take place virtually from May 5 to 7 this year. Faculty, students, staff and administrators are invited to propose a spark talk, roundtable, or individual or collaborative presentation. A diversity of ideas sharing the highlights and milestones of teaching and learning ― inside and outside the real and virtual classroom ― are welcomed. The deadline for proposals is March 25 at 4 p.m.

Nominate a graduating student for the Centennial Gold Medal
The Centennial Gold Medal is an award given to eligible students at MRU based on a nomination system. Nominees must be graduating from a diploma or degree program, have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher and demonstrate leadership through involvement in campus and community activities. The deadline is March 15 for nominations.

Free pediatric massage therapy appointments available
The MRU Massage Therapy Diploma program is looking for volunteer participants aged newborn to 14 years old. Free appointments are available on March 10 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and from 3 to 4:30 p.m., and March 13 and 14 from 10:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. To book, email rsteele@mtroyal.ca with your preferred date(s), time(s), number of children and age(s). Details on mandatory safety protocols will be provided in an email confirmation.

The Students' Association of Mount Royal University will be hosting an Anti-Racism Commemoration event on Thursday, March 18 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This event will allow Black students, Indigenous students and students of colour to share their experiences as racialized members of the MRU community. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend in order to honour the stories of our racialized students. Access the live stream.

Congratulations to Karina Zapata, a recent graduate of MRU's journalism program, on being selected as a 2021 Joan Donaldson CBC News Scholar. This CBC News scholarship program is for aspiring journalists from across the country. Over the course of 16 weeks, scholars will receive valuable hands-on experience in all areas of multi-platform news working in digital, radio and television.
