Front of House Services

Please note that front of house staff are included in a single performance rental rate, as specified in “Schedule B, Bella Concert Hall Performance and Rehearsal Rates”.


Ticketing Services:

If you are selling or distributing tickets, charging for admission (including by donation or as part of a membership) to events held in any Mount Royal University Theatres or performing arts venues, tickets must be processed through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatres Services Audience Services and Box Office. External ticket providers are prohibited as per rental contract and subject to penalty charges equivalent to charges related to bulk ticket purchase (Option 2).


Ticketing Services will not be provided until a signed rental agreement contract is received and deposits are made.


Presenters using MRU Event and Theatres Services run theatres have 2 Options:

1. All ticket and box office services can be arranged through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services and Box Office, Including box office, online, door sales and consignment sales ticket option.

2. All tickets can be purchased, printed bulk, and sold independently through Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services, Including door sales.

Option 1: Event and Theatre Services Box Office Services

  • Bella Concert Hall: $200 set-up fee per event/first performance, plus $75 for each subsequent performance if sold through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services and Box Office (general or assigned seating).
  • Leacock & Wright Theatres TransAlta Pavilion, Atelier: $100 set-up fee per event/first performance, plus $50 for each subsequent performance if sold through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services and Box Office (general or assigned seating)
  • Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services and Box Office will retain 8.5% of the total sales per performance cost recovery/ticket commission fee if tickets are sold through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services and Box Office (note: this does not include front of house staff, ticket takers, box office staff or ushers)
  • $1 per ticket charge will be levied on all complementary tickets, or tickets otherwise taken from the box office by the presenter, including consignment tickets (no refund for these tickets if returned).
  • For all box office and online sales, patrons will be charged $3 per ticket plus GST Convenience Fee for each ticket purchased, plus a $2 mailing fee per order for all tickets sent to patron by mail. For walk up ticket purchases, or tickets kept at “will call” for pick up, patrons will incur the $3 per ticket plus GST Convenience Fee and no mailing fee.


Option 2: Bulk Ticket Purchase and Independent Ticket Sale

  • Bella Concert Hall: $200 set-up fee per event/first performance, plus $75 for each subsequent performance for Presenter Sells
  • Leacock, Wright, TransAlta Pavilion, Atelier: $100 set-up fee per event/first performance, plus $50 for each subsequent performance for Presenter Sells
  • $1 per ticket printed, Cost Recovery & Ticket Commission Fee for general and assigned seating. Minimum full house run (excluding wheel chair patron tickets, printed and released only upon special request)


Leacock Theatre (305) (General or Assigned Seating); Wright Theatre (265) (General or Assigned Seating); Bella Concert Hall (Capacity varies depending on event requirements) (General or Assigned Seating)


G.S.T.

Licensee shall pay all applicable G.S.T.

It is understood that Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services will not be calculating the GST in the ticket sales. If applicable the Presenter is required to include the applicable GST in the base ticket price. If the Presenter is a GST Registrant, tax is to be submitted by him/her.


Minimum Lead Time for Box Office Set-Up:

The Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services require a minimum 14 days lead time on all box office requirements. All arrangements must be made through the Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, Audience Services mrevents@mtroyal.ca / 403-440-8890, Attention: Audience Services.


If the presenter is selling bulk tickets, the presenter must provide a final ticket sales count to the Audience Services Supervisor one week prior to the event.

Cancelled Performance Policy:

Mount Royal University or its agent will hold receipts for cancelled performances for a period of three months after the cancelled performance date, in order to provide patron refunds, after which time the residue of receipts (less any amounts due to Mount Royal University) will be paid to the Licensee.


ALL SALES ARE FINAL. No request for cancellations, changed or refunds is accepted. Refunds on tickets purchased are made for a cancelled or postponed events only. In the event that a performance is either cancelled or postponed, Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services will make every effort to contact every patron via email, time permitting. In all instances when a ticket is refunded, only the cost of the ticket is refunded. Requests for ticket exchanges will be accepted up to 48 hours prior to the performance date of the tickets you are holding. This provides the Mount Royal University (GST# 11904 7959) Box Office the opportunity to resell the exchanged tickets. The difference in ticket price will be charged when upgrading your tickets to a more expensive night or seat. Some performances may not be available or eligible to exchange.


Each person REGARDLESS OF AGE must have a valid ticket to enter a performance, or an assigned seat. Lap seating is not permitted as an alternative to this regulation; every person inside a venue counts toward the licensed venue capacity.


LATE SEATING is at the discretion of the Front of House staff in compliance with the wishes of the presenter/event sponsor or facility owner.


Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services reserves the right to deny entry if the ticket holder does not comply with the rules and regulations of the venue, independent of the event presenter/promoter; this includes alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, cameras, recording devices, tripods and packages not permitted on the premises. Alcohol sold by Mount Royal University Event and Theatre Services, photography and event recording may be permitted if preauthorized and appropriate permissions given.
