A.
OVERVIEW
All Web postings of University-issued information and academic courseware will be placed on the
University Web server and administered by the University Web Master in Information Technology
Services. No other campus-based Web servers are permitted.
B.
PURPOSE
In accordance with the University’s On-line Publishing Policy, information posted on the
University Web server generally shall be limited
to that which pertains to the University’s
activities. This Policy and Procedure outlines what can be published and the guidelines for
publication.
C.
SCOPE
Compliance with University Policies and Procedures extends to all members of the University
community.
Information not related directly to University operations may be published if it furthers the
University presence in the academic and general communities. Academic information may
include courseware, class notes, research information, class activities, or any other information
that relates to students and/or employees of Mount Royal University. Promotional or institutional
materials may include content such as department and program profiles, career and job avenues
for program graduates, curriculum links to related sites, faculty profiles, etc. Graphics for
institutional and academic pages will be defined by templates and standards. Personal pages will
be available for all University employees and must link from department or program home pages.
The general appearance of personal pages will be in keeping with published guidelines.

POLICY STATEMENT

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.1
Information Technology Services
Information Technology Services is responsible for maintaining the University
Web server, posting prepared information on the server, working with individuals

to update and revise posted information, educating individuals to create Web
materials and setting standards for Web material production. The Web Master in
Information Technology Services manages the University technical Web
presence.
1.2
Academic Development Centre
The Academic Development Centre is responsible for working with individuals to
post academic information such as courseware, course outlines, class activities
and class notes, and for offering workshops to educate individuals to create Web
materials. The Academic Development Centre will provide information about
courseware templates using demonstrations and workshops.
1.3
University Advancement
University Advancement
is responsible for the University’s institutional presence
on the Web (including content and graphic presentation) for all information that is
available to the general public and for approving such information prior to
posting. Information pertaining to program and course listings, admission
requirements, prerequisites, graduation requirements, tuition, etc. will be
approved for posting by the Office of the Registrar as facilitated by University
Advancement.

Individuals/Departments
Individuals/Departments are responsible for designating a contact person/
position who will provide accurate and current information, working with the
University Web Master to maintain this information through regular updates,
ensuring that information complies with University policies and standards,
ensuring that copyright material appears only with the consent of the original
copyright owner, and obtaining written permission for any personal information
(instructor biographies, photographs, etc.) included in the content.
