A.
PURPOSE
To assist in the development of employment related skills and increase the employment potential
of individuals whose positions have been abolished, Mount Royal University will provide access to
most credit and non-credit programs, courses, workshops and student services offered by Mount
Royal University. This Policy outlines how that will occur.
B.
SCOPE
This Policy applies to Mount Royal University employees whose positions have been abolished.
C.
POLICY STATEMENT
1.
ELIGIBILITY
1.1
The individual must have a minimum of two (2) full years of service with Mount
Royal University.
1.2
The individual must meet program or course entrance requirements.
2.
RESTRICTIONS
2.1
This benefit is available for University semesters which occur during a two (2) year
period, following the first date of application for admission (as published in the
University calendar) after position abolishment.
2.2
Application for admission must be made within one (1) year from the date of
position abolishment. If admission is not possible because a course is already full,
the deadline for application will be extended once, to the next semester in which
the course is available.
2.3
Courses in Music and Aviation are excluded.
2.4
The maximum amount to be reimbursed for any one individual in one academic
year is equal to the regular tuition fee charged for twenty (20) credits as per the
Educational Opportunities for Individuals Whose Positions Have Been Abolished Policy

University calendar. Tuition reimbursement does not include the amount charged
for any other type of fee.
2.5
The Board reserves the right to limit the amount of money available for tuition
reimbursements.
2.6
Eligibility for tuition reimbursement is discontinued once full-time employment has
been obtained or the two (2) year period has been reached, whichever comes first.
