All policies are reviewed by their respective Policy Sponsor every five years from their effective date, unless otherwise specified or required by legislation.
Policy reviews are coordinated by the University Secretariat and occur between June and July annually for all policies scheduled for review in that year.
Policies may be reviewed outside of its five year cycle if it is determined that there are inconsistencies in the policy, if it has been impacted by other University policies, or if language in the policy presents a risk to the University.
If a Policy Sponsor indicates that a Comprehensive Revision to a policy is required, then the policy development and drafting process will begin with the Proposal for a New or Revised Policy Template.
The University Secretariat will provide a summary report of the results from the annual policy review to DC, if requested.
Editorial Revisions to policies may occur as necessary. Editorial Revisions may be approved by either the Policy Sponsor or the University Secretary.
As part of the annual policy review, Policy Sponsors are formally asked if any policies scheduled for review in the current year should be rescinded.
