Laura Brandt

 Laura Brandt has been hailed as a “tour-de-force” and a “powerhouse soprano”. She has frequently performed with Calgary Opera in mainstage roles, summer festivals, school tours and donor events. Credits there include Frasquita (Carmen), Aurore (Le Portrait de Manon), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia). As an ambassador for Calgary Opera she has been a soloist on two European river cruises, travelling and singing from Budapest to Amsterdam. Laura also made a foray into musical theatre with forty performances as Lily in Theatre Calgary’s production of The Secret Garden. Laura has been featured as a soloist in the 2023 Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (Music of the Movies, Pops, and outreach concerts), Luminous Voices (Brahms Requiem, Carmina Burana), The Firebird Symphony and Chorus, (Mozart Mass, Carmina Burana), The Festival Chorus (Elijah, Brahms Requiem), Spiritus Chamber Choir (Resphighi Laud to the Nativity), The Mountain View Chamber Festival, The Calgary Civic Symphony (Popera, Mahler 2), The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Opera on the Avalon (Governess, The Turn of the Screw), Opera New Brunswick, and Cowtown Opera (Rosalinde, Die Fledermaus). Laura has a B.Mus. from Mount Allison University and an M.Mus. in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory. Credits there include Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), First Lady (The Magic Flute), and the Sprechstimme for Pierrot Lunaire. She teaches voice and piano in Calgary. In her free time Laura enjoys getting outdoors with her husband and son, hiking, running, and enjoying the mountains.
