Crystal Tan

Crystal Tan completed her Bachelor's degree in Classical Piano Performance at UCSI University in 2021, followed by her Master's degree in Music Education at the University of Calgary in 2023. With over nine years of teaching experience, Crystal is a dedicated music educator who specializes in teaching piano to students of various age groups, from young children to adults. In the respective years of 2015 and 2018, she received her ABRSM Grade 8 in music theory and Trinity ATCL performance diploma in piano. She was also the recipient of the 2023 Kodály Study Scholarship at the University of Alberta.
Throughout her career, Crystal has explored different teaching methods, including Music for Little Mozarts by Alfred Music and the Kodály Method. She believes in the importance of exposing students to different genres of music and actively encourages them to develop their musical interests. In her free time, Crystal also works as an accompanist for singers in vocal classes and examinations, further enriching her musical experiences.
Beyond piano teaching, Crystal has a passion for choral singing and has actively participated in several choirs. In 2018, she had the opportunity to perform Orff's Carmina Burana with the Dithyrambic Singers and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also competed and won in various choir competitions, including the Taipei International Choral Competition and the International Choir Competition Grand Prix Thailand. Currently, Crystal is an active member of the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus, contributing to the vibrant musical community.
