A native of Almaty, Kazakhstan,  Janna (Zhanar) Banman is a professional pianist, chamber concertmaster and devoted piano teacher. She has extensive international experience as she has taught around the world in countries such as Kazakhstan, Indonesia , France, Norway, and Canada.  

Based on each student's strengths and needs she adapts her teaching style to the individual with the idea of building a solid musical foundation and inspiring musical enthusiasm. 

Janna holds advanced  musical performance degrees including a B.A (Kazakhstan) and MMus  (University of Calgary) under tutelage of Marilyn Engle.  Her musical development  continued with a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance in Norway under tutelage of Erling Ragnar Eriksen.  

Janna’s teaching skills have been developing since she taught music to  young children as part of her musical training in Kazakhstan.  Janna has focused on further developing piano performance  skills. She  studied Theory and Analysis of Contemporary Music in Paris with Dr. Hasegawa  (Eastman School of Music) .

She attended the World  Piano Meeting in Portugal several times and took piano masterclasses with Aquiles DeleVingne, Mamiko Suda and Makoto Ueno. She has also performed in master classes with Daniel Rhom in Norway.

She teaches the ABRSM syllabus internationally online as well as Royal Conservatory of Music.  A number of these ABRSM students have successfully received their  Certificates with Merit and Distinction from the Royal School of Music in UK (ABRSM ).

She believes that learning the piano can be a powerful experience that will enhance your life in many ways and she enjoys helping  students learn some of the life lessons and critical skills that come with mastering the ins and outs of the instrument.
