Cougars Campus Store will open Jan. 4, 2021
Beginning Jan. 4, 2021, the Cougars Campus Store will be open for in-person shopping by appointment only. On-campus pick up by appointment and additional shipping options continue to be available and students are encouraged to order textbooks online early. All appointments will be limited based on Government of Alberta capacity restrictions. Launch of Diversity and Inclusion podcast series

Cougars Athletics and Recreation is excited to launch a Diversity and Inclusion series on the We Are The Cougars podcast. The Diversity and Inclusion series was created to educate, inspire and lead our community forward in addressing issues of racism and oppression. Each episode includes a discussion of personal, historic and current events to define important concepts and encourage conversations of diversity and inclusion. Reminder of early timesheet deadlines in December
The final payday of the year is Dec. 22. The timesheet deadline for the Dec. 22 payday is Dec. 31 for employees and Jan. 4 for approvers. Dec. 21 is the paper source deadline for the Jan. 15 payday.

Could the last one out please unplug the toaster?
If you are on campus, unplug coffee makers, toasters and other small appliances before leaving for the break. Read the "Small Appliance Safe Work Guidelines" for more information.

Champions in the classroom: Cougars Academic All-Canadians recognized
Seventy-six of Mount Royal’s student-athletes received U Sports Academic All-Canadian status for the 2019/2020 season, breaking the record set the previous year of 74. Members of Cougars teams must maintain a 3.4 GPA or higher to obtain this honour, and, notably, these top performers make up more than 40 per cent of all student-athletes at MRU. Women's soccer had the most players recognized with a total of 18 (three-quarters of their roster), however leading by percentage was women's volleyball, with 14 of their 17 members named as an Academic All-Canadian. Day receives alumni distinction
Trevor Day, PhD, professor in the Department of Biology has been chosen as the recipient of the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine Alumni of Distinction Award “in recognition of outstanding contributions to education.” A celebration is scheduled for May. Day was also recently elected to the College of New Scholars, Scientists and Artists by the Royal Society of Canada.

Start of semester emails, with option for distribution list sign-up

As each semester begins (August/September and December/January), areas with ongoing employee activities can send an email to all employees describing their semester activities. Employees can then choose to opt in to that area's distribution list (Google Group) for regular updates. If you would like to send an email and/or set up a Google Group for your area, please contact Marketing and Communications for guidelines.
