We partner with the Livingstone Range School Division to host high school students from rural southwest Alberta (Nanton, Claresholm, Pincher Creek and the Crowsnest Valley) for a week-long Changemaker Leadership Camp. Students are introduced to some the more enticing aspects of campus life – recreation, arts, science labs and lectures. Residence Services, the Iniskim Centre, Campus Recreation, Admissions and Recruitment, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Trico Changemakers Studio are among the regular and enthusiastic partners.

Changemaking is infusing as a theme throughout this unique 5-day experience, and students are also challenged to think about how they can apply some of what they learn to challenges that their region or communities are facing. Dr. Katharine McGowan leads the group in a very fun “Systems 101” workshop, and the students in this eye-opening experience get first hand experience with public transit, navigating downtown and visiting some of Calgary’s premier institutions (depending on the year, we have visited Telus Spark, Glenbow, the central library and Studio Bell).
