MRU joins Alberta post-secondaries to introduce vaccination mandate, required vaccination proof, and changes to its rapid testing program
Sept. 13, 2021
Today, Mount Royal University is joining with other Alberta post-secondaries building on previously announced COVID-19 measures. While MRU’s masking, vaccination declaration and a rapid testing program will continue through the fall semester, these changes will strengthen the role vaccinations play on our campus:
- Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, MRU campus community members and visitors will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend campuses.
- Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, campus community members and visitors will be required to provide proof of vaccination.
- As of Jan. 1, rapid testing will no longer be accepted as an alternative to being fully vaccinated, except for campus community members who cannot be vaccinated based on medical or other protected grounds outlined in the Alberta Human Rights Act.
Alberta post-secondary institutions are working together and taking a coordinated approach to ensure safety on our campuses for students, faculty, staff and visitors. It is an approach to health and safety that is best suited for the learning, studying, researching, working, and living environments of our campuses.
