Statement of Support for University of Waterloo

Our thoughts are with the University of Waterloo and its community members as they cope with the shocking and alarming June 28 hate-motivated attack that took place on their campus.

The nature of the attack in the context of a course on gender studies and during Pride Month — and in a time of increased acts of violence towards women and other equity-deserving groups — adds to the considerable impact of this event. We offer our unwavering support for the gender studies and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and stand with them in solidarity.
