Mount Royal University and Royal Roads University sign memorandum of understanding

Mount Royal University and Royal Roads University (RRU) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) designed to foster a deeper relationship in teaching and research between the two institutions. This partnership aims to enhance academic and research opportunities, facilitate student and faculty exchanges, and foster innovative collaborations.
Philip Steenkamp, president and vice-chancellor of Royal Roads and Tim Rahilly, president and vice-chancellor of Mount Royal, signed the MOU at an event held at Hatley Castle at RRU’s Colwood Victoria campus. The agreement sets out a framework for co-operation in areas such as joint research projects, academic programs and community engagement initiatives.
“We are excited to partner with Mount Royal to advance our shared goals of academic excellence and innovation,” Steenkamp said. “This MOU will provide our students and faculty with unique opportunities to collaborate on and engage with a diverse community of scholars and help create mutual benefits for both institutions.”

“MRU and Royal Roads University are committed to an outstanding student experience, experiential learning, indigenization, and research and scholarship. We are pleased to sign this memorandum of understanding with Royal Roads to help both institutions deliver on our strategic priorities to serve our communities,” Rahilly said.
Both institutions have innovation and responsive programming at the forefront of their values, and both are recognized Ashoka Changemaker campuses, a designation that recognizes colleges and universities with a proven track record of campus-wide excellence for social innovation and changemaking.
The agreement between RRU and MRU will be the basis for future partnership initiatives, which could include academic pathways for credit recognition, collaboration on academic programming and joint research opportunities. Both institutions are committed to fostering a spirit of co-operation and mutual respect as they work towards their common goals.
