Thunder Clash Classic
Welcome to the electrifying world of the Thunder Clash Classic, an exhilarating academic showdown taking place at Beakerhead! Think of the Thunder Clash Classic as the Crowchild Classic: research edition. This captivating competition brings together the brightest minds from Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary in a friendly competition to showcase their research prowess. Prepare to be amazed as these all stars present groundbreaking ideas, captivating audiences with innovative research projects, in under 5 minutes. Join us for an unforgettable event where intellectual sparks fly, knowledge collides, and the future comes to life in a thrilling clash of the minds. It’s Cougars vs Dinos, Beakerhead style. One institution will take home the title of Thunder Clash Champion!

The Alien Talk Show
Join renowned science communicator Jay Ingram and the Beakerhead band as they orchestrate
an exploration into the fascinating concept of extraterrestrial life. In this captivating talk show format, Jay will engage with a lineup of distinguished guests, including MRU’s Sarah Hewitt, to unravel the question of what aliens might look like if they existed. This event will ignite your imagination and senses, as a skilled sketch artist brings to life the vivid visions of the guests, creating an awe-inspiring gallery of otherworldly beings.

BODY: an immersive night
Get ready to experience the North American premiere of an outdoor night-time installation like none other! BODY combines sculpture, lighting, special effects, sound, and fire to portray human biology. Inspired by anatomical science, UK outdoor arts organization Walk the Plank’s BODY uses cutting-edge technology to provide guests with a deeper understanding of the human form. Learn something new and journey through six different zones, from the beating heart to the optic nerves, ignite your senses in this immersive exhibit. Whether you’re an aspiring doctor, a curious mind, a local, or a tourist, everyone is welcome to explore! As a family-friendly experience, guests of all ages are invited to step out of their day-to-day world and enter the magical realm of BODY.
