Looking to join a community built around career development? Are you excited to share your growing knowledge with your fellow students? Do you want to gain valuable volunteering and leadership experience? Become an MRU Career Peer!

What are Career Peers?

Career Peers support the vision of Career Services and Mount Royal University.

Career Peers are a highly visible arm of the department, engaging the student population through relevant, timely, and exciting activities. These activities are designed to build awareness about the services that CS offers, introduce basic career concepts, and connect students with each other to build their networks and confidence.

Career Peers complement, enhance, or promote the existing services that Career Services offers. They gain experience in a professional environment and learn amidst like-minded students while adding value to the department as a whole.

The objectives of the program are:

  • Provide meaningful engagement opportunities for student leaders
  • Increase career awareness of MRU students through peer-led programming
  • Increase student access to Career Services
  • Connect students to curricular and cocurricular WIL
  • Expand the reach of Career Services through peer-led programming
  • Develop student leaders from each program offered on campus
  • Engage all students in career-building activities
  • Raise awareness and promote experiential learning opportunities for all students
  • Provide work-relevant, skill-building opportunities to students

Career Peers support Mount Royal as volunteers. Some opportunities include:

  • Assisting and facilitating basic career education sessions such as drop-in Appy Hours
  • Promoting and assisting our four major events, including the Volunteer Fair and Career Expo
  • Supporting employers on campus at networking and promotional events
  • Grass-root and street promotion of Career Services
  • And more!
