Journalism Instructor

Cassandra Riabko holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication, with a major in Journalism from Mount Royal University and a Master's degree in Communication & Media Studies from the University of Calgary. Her research project focused on political memes featuring Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the ways that memes featuring political figures function as means of socialization, persuasion, critique, and satire that can often reflect alt-right activism.

She has worked in Corporate Communications in the Oil and Gas sector for almost ten years, implementing the theories of communication from her job in academia and intersecting them into practices in the energy industry, with a special emphasis on visual communication. She also has experience in the non-profit sector.
