Dr. Sylwia Ciezar Andersen has been on the faculty at Mount Royal University since August 2023. Prior to
coming to MRU, she completed her doctoral work in the area of undergraduate nursing student mental
and physical wellness. During that time she also had many opportunities to act in leadership positions at
the University of Calgary and abroad, representing the nursing profession at the UN Peace Summit in
Bangkok, Thailand in 2019. Dr. Andersen continues to work as a bedside nurse since 2006, and has
worked in the ICU since 2012. Dr. Andersen decided to undertake graduate work after falling in love
with teaching in the Nursing Department at Red Deer College back in 2011. She has also taught at the
University of Calgary during her 5 years of graduate work. She has a passion for creating healthy
workplaces and empowering nursing students to excel.
