Ashleigh has extensive experience within the family newborn realm of nursing which includes: obstetrical triage; obstetrical operating room as circulator, scrub or patient care nurse; outpatient obstetrics prenatal clinic nurse; early pregnancy assessment clinic; and gynecology procedure room recovery and physician assist. She maintains current clinical practice within family newborn practice settings. Other nursing experience includes: acute medical/surgical & CVICU.
Ashleigh’s master’s thesis research focused on women's health and gathering data to support the development of a policy, guideline and future teaching materials related to water birth in Alberta Hospitals. In addition to having interests related to policy development, she enjoys being engaged with quality improvement initiatives and participating in opportunities to improve workplace flow, function and staff and patient experiences. She believes strongly in creating supportive learning environments and peer mentorship and is looking forward to translating those beliefs into her teaching practices at MRU.
