Dr. Margaret MacConnachie joined the Department of Chemistry and Physics at MRU in 2024 as an Assistant Professor. She will be teaching general chemistry and introductory analytical chemistry courses.

Margaret grew up in lovely Calgary, Alberta. She obtained her BSc.H. in Chemistry, with a minor in Classical Studies, and her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Queen’s University at Kingston. Her research focused on applications of multi-elemental analysis in forensic and archaeological sciences, and lead her to conduct research internationally in Denmark.

Following the completion of her studies, she stayed in Kingston to teach several general chemistry courses at Queen’s, and fell in love with teaching. Although she thoroughly enjoyed her time living in Ontario, she is thrilled to be back home, and to share her love for chemistry!
