A passion for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, an outgoing personality and strong roots in the agricultural community has culminated in Bachelor of Communication – Public Relations student Breanna Correia being named as the 2025 Calgary Stampede Princess. The announcement follows a close competition between seven contestants.

“The Royalty Committee is proud to have Breanna crowned as the 2025 Calgary Stampede Princess” says Janelle Fortmuller, chair of the Calgary Stampede Royalty Committee.

“She shone in her horsemanship, public speaking and interpersonal skills, making an impact on our judges and the Stampede community alike. Breanna demonstrated a strong understanding of the role and the Stampede organization throughout the competition.”

Correia, a born and raised Calgarian, has always had a special connection with the Calgary Stampede. Her passion for agriculture began when she was just nine years old when she joined her local 4-H club. She remains connected to many 4-H clubs today as a coach.

Now as an aspiring communications professional, Correia hopes to share her love of the Stampede with others.

As the Calgary Stampede Princess for 2025, Correia will act as an ambassador for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth alongside the 2025 First Nations Princess. Their reigns officially start on Jan. 1, 2025 and end on Dec. 31, 2025. Together, the pair will attend hundreds of events where they will share and celebrate the Stampede’s Western heritage, culture and community spirit.

Correia’s professors in Public Relations are thrilled to see her taking on this exciting new role in the new year.

"The MRU Public Relations Department is honoured to have high-achieving students like Breanna Correia to represent the program. Her ability to balance her extracurricular activities with the program's demands is admirable,” says Peter Ryan, associate professor and interim chair. “We wish her all the best in her new role, and look forward to supporting her as she takes on the challenge of representing the Calgary Stampede. We're very excited for her.”
