Get help nowOur psychiatrists offer single-session assessments for complex mental health concerns both in-person and by phone. Appointments require a referral from your family physician. If you don’t have a family physician, you can meet with a Mental Health Nurse to discuss referral options.
Who has access
Mental health services from our psychiatrist are available to:
- All MRU credit students, including International Students and those in Continuing Education occupational programs.
- Faculty members of the Mount Royal Faculty Association (MRFA)
- Employee members of the Mount Royal Staff Association (MRSA), Mount Royal exempt management and employees
- Spouses and child dependents of students in the Indigenous Family Residence program
Accessing our Psychiatrists
To schedule a psychiatrist appointment, obtain a referral from your physician using our referral form. If you don’t have a physician, a Mental Health Nurse can help explore other options.
What to Expect
When you arrive for your scheduled appointment at Health Services (U216), new patients will complete paperwork and a mental health screening if needed. Bring your provincial health care card.
24-hour cancellation notice is required for all clinic physician appointments. Patients who no-show or provide insufficient notice of cancellation will be charged a fee of $150. You can leave us a message on our after-hours cancellation line.
Confidentality
MRU Health Services protects your personal health information under the Health Information Act and other legislation. Your information remains confidential unless you consent to disclosure or if required by law.
