General Cleaning Schedule
Our team follows a structured schedule to maintain high standards of cleanliness across campus. Click an area, below, for an overview of cleaning expectations, including frequency. View a comprehensive cleaning schedule.
Tasks:
- Furniture reset to be executed.
- Desk surfaces are to be wiped down (Student desks and podium/smart cabinets).
- Clean Chalkboards, white boards and chalk trays.
- Thorough vacuum on the entire area.
- Restock consumables in the spaces (chalk, erasers).
Project work:
- Carpets to be extracted.
- Air diffusers to be dusted.
- All upholstered furniture to be extracted.
- High dusting of Lighting fixtures, door frames, high ledges.
Frequency:
- Performed daily.
- Project work: annually.
Tasks:
- Paper towel and soap dispensers to be filled and cleaned.
- Trash/recycle containers to be emptied and spot cleaned.
- Sinks to be cleaned and polished.
- Horizontal surfaces of tables and counters to be cleaned.
- Counters, handles, exteriors of cupboards and exterior of appliances to be wiped and spot cleaned.
- Walls and doors to be spot cleaned.
- Carpets to be vacuumed and spot cleaned
- Glass doors to be cleaned.
Project work:
- Hard surface floors to be scrubbed and recoated / stripped and refinished.
- Carpets to be extracted
- Windows to be cleaned.
- Air diffusers to be dusted.
Frequency:
- Performed weekly with daily emptying of organic bins.
- Project work: annually.
Tasks:
- Matting/carpets to be thoroughly vacuumed and spot cleaned.
- Both sides of door glass to be cleaned and metalwork wiped.
- Fingerprints, smudges and other soil to be removed from doors and walls.
- Tile floors swept, washed and buffed/burnished as required.
- Tables and chairs to be moved and floor damp mopped.
- All staircase and common area glass to be spot cleaned.
- Public seating and signage to be cleaned.
- Trash/Recycling/Refundable containers emptied and spot cleaned.
- Water fountains are to be cleaned and sanitized on a nightly basis.
Frequency:
- Performed daily.
- High traffic areas are inspected throughout the day or in response to weather conditions.
- Link mats are extracted and lifted to clean beneath as needed with increased frequency in winter months.
Tasks:
- Flooring will be swept or mopped as appropriate, spot cleaned and
- gum removed.
- Walls, reflective surfaces and metal work will be cleaned and polished.
- Elevator doors, indicator panels and frames will be kept clean and free of finger marks and smudges.
- Ceilings to be dusted and spot cleaned.
- Doors, walls and frames to be completely cleaned and polished.
Project work:
- Air diffusers to be dusted.
- Door tracks cleaned and vacuumed free of stones.
Frequency:
- Performed daily.
- Project work: annually.
Tasks:
- Horizontal surfaces will be dusted and spot cleaned.
- Cleared off desk surfaces are to be wiped down.
- Partitions, walls and doors to be spot cleaned.
- All hard surface floors to be swept with a Microfiber dust mop.
- Carpet traffic areas to be vacuumed.
- High dusting of wall hangings, pictures, tops of doors, high cabinets, high ledges.
- Dusting of vertical surfaces such as side of desks, chairs, tables, filing cabinets and Equipment.
- All chairs to be spot cleaned when needed.
Project work:
- Carpets to be extracted.
- Air diffusers to be dusted.
- All upholstered furniture to be extracted.
- Vinyl and leather furniture to be damp wiped.
Frequency:
- Performed every two weeks.
- Project work: annually.
Tasks:
- Sweep / Mop or vacuum floor, dust benches, dust bench top if empty, shelving, tabletops/desks cleaned - Wash open bench tops.
- Thorough cleaning (high dusting, mop floors, vacuum, Wipe down glass cabinet fronts, benchtops).
- Cleaning fume hoods (vacuum and wipe down glass sashes).
- Clean Chalkboards/Blackboards/Whiteboards.
- Empty Garbage/Recycling and Tip bins.
- Check paper towel/soap stock, refilling if needed.
Frequency:
- Performed as per assignment schedule (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly).
Tasks:
- Stairs and landings are to be litter patrolled and spot cleaned.
- Dust railings, lights, fire protection equipment, and all vertical and horizontal surfaces.
- Glass, doors and walls to be spot cleaned.
- Steps, landings and risers, including underside of stairway to be washed.
- All doors and frames will be kept free of finger marks and smudges.
- All baseboards, ledges or other surfaces will be dusted and spot cleaned.
- Air diffusers to be dusted.
Frequency:
- Performed daily: Only High traffic staircases with increased frequency in winter months.
- Performed weekly: Thorough cleaning performed for the rest of staircases in all buildings.
Tasks:
- Perform Washroom cleaning from high to low, toward the doorway, with dry cleaning tasks performed prior to wet cleaning operations.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces touched by hands (e.g., door knobs, light switches, handles, etc.) with microfibers and disinfectant.
- All bright work, faucets, toilet seats, toilet bowls, basins, hinges and valves to be washed with germicidal detergent and polished.
- Mirrors and vanities to be cleaned.
- Walls, partitions and all other ledges to be cleaned and dusted.
- Garbage and sanitary disposal receptacles to be emptied, cleaned and relined.
- Clean and fill all drain traps on a regular basis.
- Restock all consumables in the space (paper towel, toilet paper, hand soap, etc.).
- Descaler is to be used on porcelain fixtures only when required.
Frequency:
- Performed daily (Light cleaning executed on the day shift and deep cleaning executed on the evening shift).
- Partitions, tile walls and air grills will be washed with germicidal detergent twice a year.
- Flooring to be machine scrubbed as required.
Tasks:
- All waste, recycling, paper/cardboard and refundable items to be removed from the common areas and placed in the proper storage containers.
- Trash/Recycling/Refundable containers emptied and spot cleaned.
- Garbage/recycling areas to be kept clean of debris at all times.
- Sweep and wash floors in waste/recycling disposal areas.
Project work:
- Loading dock to be swept and pressure washed as per schedule.
Frequency:
- Performed daily.
- Performed weekly as per assignment schedule.
- Project work: Swept twice per week and to be pressure washed twice a year.
