The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell Graduating Social Studies Teacher Award
The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell, Chair of the History and Heroes Foundation and the 18th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta (2015-2020) has selected three Mount Royal University Bachelor of Education—Elementary graduates as the finalists for The Honourable Lois E. Mitchell Graduating Social Studies Teacher Award.
The three winners include Jaiden Hourie, Liam Pyle and Spencer Felesky. This award was created to support Alberta’s upcoming teachers and history educators to explore and share the lessons of the past. The foundation trusts that this award will help deepen the interest and understanding of Canada’s history for these new teachers. A greater appreciation for Alberta’s past in shaping the future begins in the classroom. Imperative to the classroom experience are inspiring, passionate teachers like these finalists who are dedicated to the inclusiveness of Alberta’s heritage.
