Students will complete clinical placements with midwifery practices across Alberta and possibly in other provinces. In these placements, students learn under the direct supervision of registered midwife preceptors and are given the opportunity to integrate and apply previously acquired knowledge to the clinical setting. A majority of clinical experiences will occur within Alberta. Refer to the Alberta Association of Midwives for a map of midwifery practice locations in Alberta.
Additional placements in year three of the program allow students to experience interprofessional peripartum settings such as labour and delivery units and obstetrical rotations. Students also complete a placement with a community organization that works with pregnant people in some capacity.
