After several years of postdoctoral research in Neuroscience, Katja joined the Mount Royal community in 1994 to pursue her passion for teaching. Katja has taught a wide variety of courses in biology and was integrally involved in designing and implementing the Bachelor of Science major in Health Science. Over the past two decades, Katja has co-authored several Anatomy and Physiology textbooks. This endeavor allows her to combine her expertise in research, clinical medicine, and the classroom, and to extend her teaching to a much wider audience. Katja was honored with the Max Forman (Jr.) Prize for excellence in medical research from the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation in 1991, a Students' Association Teaching Excellence Award in 2001, a Distinguished Faculty Award in 2004 and a Career Achievement Award in 2019.
