My journey with MRU started in the fall of 2012 as a General Science student. A childhood love for geology, which had become lost in the business of life, was rekindled when I took the course “The Dynamic Earth”. As a result, I moved to the BSc Geology program and graduated in 2018. During my time as a student, I grew to appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing for delivery of quality education and decided this was what I wanted to do as a career. I spent time volunteering within the department and accepting small contract work as it was available, and was finally hired full time as the Geoscience Technologist in March of 2020 – just in time for everything to change as we had to reimagine how to offer courses remotely! I have a passion to see people succeed and draw great satisfaction from helping them do so. That in a nutshell is the role of the Geoscience Technologist. I work behind the scenes to make sure faculty and students are equipped with everything needed to navigate the BSc Geology program.
