Ademola's research is focused on engaging the complex ways in which economic, political, environmental and social challenges intertwine and manifest in urban areas and other geographic contexts due to various key issues of contemporary society, such as globalization, rapid urbanization, poverty and environmental degradation. This is with the aim of advancing processes that might lead to more sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities and societies.

Current research project investigates the multifaceted challenges faced by informal low-income
enterprises and residents in a cross section of African cities, with the aim of generating critical insights and evidence to provide a solid basis for developing possible policy reforms to raise working and living conditions as well as strengthen city and national economies.
