Learning Technologies
ADC supports the effective integration of learning technologies into classroom, online, and blended learning formats. We collaborate with faculty and instructional staff in order to create exceptional digital learning experiences for Mount Royal learners. We also work closely with campus partners in the Office of the AVP Academic, Information Technology Services, Facilities Management, and academic units, to ensure alignment of supports and services with identified community needs.
The following is a list of MRU learning technologies and support options:
D2L Brightspace is the institutionally-supported Learning Management System (LMS) at Mount Royal. Serving as a digital extension of the classroom, the LMS enables instructors and students to connect with one another and with course content, anytime and anywhere. We collaborate closely with Information Technology Services to ensure the operation of this critical learning infrastructure.
ADC is responsible for direct support to faculty for D2L training, troubleshooting, and best practices for leveraging D2L in blended and online learning

Using clickers during a typical lecture can help to create engagement and interaction between you and your students. At MRU, we use the iClickers system and class sets can be signed out from the Library.
For training on how to use iClickers, visit the Sandbox On-Demand tutorial site. The ADC instructional design (ID) team supports Mount Royal faculty in the creation or maintenance of blended and fully-online eLearning projects. Project work is typically carried out over a September through June development cycle. As the faculty member, you provide subject matter expertise and work collaboratively with the support of an instructional design consultant, graphic designer, and other ADC professional staff as appropriate. Through this iterative design process you will have opportunities to:
- Meet and connect with other faculty who are developing eLearning projects
- Re-examine your curriculum, learning activities, and assessment strategies
- Learn about strategies for engaging students in an online learning environment
The annual call for eLearning project support is typically distributed through Dean’s Council in the late fall, for projects commencing in the following academic year.
