Whether you are living in Residence, taking Calgary Transit, or driving, Mount Royal has plenty of options for you to get to and from campus. Your time is important and so is making your daily commute as convenient as possible.
OneCard & your commute

ONECard

Your OneCard is your official student ID card and gives you access to the Library, Recreation, labs and classrooms and printing on campus. You can pick up your ONECard from the ONECard Desk, normally in the Cougars Campus Store on Main Street.

To get your ONECard, fill out the ONECard Print Request Form and submit a photo through the ONECard Portal at the end of the survey. You'll get an email when your card is ready. Make sure you bring one piece of government-issued identification (i.e. driver's license, provincial identification, or passport) to collect it.

Your ONECard can also act as a campus debit card. You can use it to pay for food on campus (except Wyckham House), printing and purchases at the Cougars Campus Store.

Parking

If you intend to park on campus, parking permits are in high demand and available for purchase online. Day lots and visitor parking lots are also available on a pay per use basis; check out the parking map for directions. If you are living in Residence, parking passes are first-come first serve.

UPass

If you are a full-time credit student, you will receive a UPass as part of your student fees. The UPass can be accessed through My Fare app through Calgary Transit services during the semester.

Residence

Residence Services is dedicated to making every resident feel at home when they're away from home. This section will help you understand everything you need to know before moving in with us.

Roommates

Choose your own roommates! Roommate Matching in the Residence Portal allows you to view profiles and message potential roommates.

If you choose not to participate in Roommate Matching, we will match you with roommates based on the profile in your application. We try our best, however, we highly encourage residents to select their own roommates for a greater chance of compatibility.

Room assignments

Your application allows you to indicate room type preferences. We take these into consideration as we assign everyone rooms on a first-come, first-served basis.

You can also access the Residence Portal to view your assignment and roommate details.

Living Learning Communities

A Living Learning Community is an optional residence community that allows students with similar interests to live together and participate in activities that are tailored for their community. It's an ideal way to meet individuals that you already have something in common with!

You can choose from alcohol-free, nursing, aviation, athletics and wellness, and scholar communities in your application.

Accessibility

If you have accessibility needs, please note this on your application and contact Accessibility Services. We have accessible units available and we will support your needs to the best of our abilities.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Residence Services is dedicated to creating an inclusive community for everyone living in our buildings. At Mount Royal University, students are NOT assigned to their residence unit based on gender. All residence units (apartments & townhouses) are open to all gender identities and expressions. If you prefer to live in a unit of the same gender though, you can select that option on your application as well.

For more information please contact Residence Services at residence@mtroyal.ca.
