Indigenous Studies (INST)
Indigenous Studies seeks to understand Indigenous people and communities by exploring Indigenous experiences, cultures, and histories in Canada and internationally. As a new and evolving disciple, it covers a broad range of topics through Indigenous perspectives in the past and present. The Indigenous Studies minor provides students from diverse programs with a critical lens to view and challenge mainstream ideas and assumptions. More advanced courses focus on specific themes, such as self-government, land rights, and Indigenous ways of knowing, within a comparative framework.
