Murdoch McKinnon received his BSc in Environmental Science from Mount Royal University and is currently completing his PhD in Geography through the University of Waterloo. His research focusses on the restoration of ecosystem function in wetlands disturbed by industrial development including oil and gas well pads, access roads, and seismic lines. He seeks to improve our understanding of the environmental controls dictating the success of re-establishing plant communities, with the aim of optimizing existing restoration practices and supporting the development of novel restoration strategies and techniques.
