  • The image features a vibrant blue background with smooth, curving wave-like designs in different shades of blue and gray along the edges, giving it a dynamic and flowing appearance. In the center of the image, large white text with a dark outline reads "Recovery on Campus." Below this, in smaller white text, it says "Mount Royal University." The Mount Royal University logo is located in the bottom right corner of the image, adding a formal branding element. The overall design is clean, professional, and inviting, emphasizing a supportive campus recovery initiative.

What is Recovery on Campus Alberta?

Recovery on Campus Alberta is a collaborative initiative dedicated to creating supportive environments on post-secondary campuses where individuals in recovery from substance use, addiction, or mental health challenges can thrive.

The mission of ROC Alberta is to co-create, champion, and sustain recovery programs that respect and celebrate multiple recovery pathways. It aims to serve all campus members, including students, faculty, and staff, across Alberta and beyond.

ROC Alberta seeks to create a culture of recovery on campuses by promoting well-being, reducing barriers, and empowering individuals to thrive in a supportive community.

"By recovering out loud, we are changing the conversation about recovery so that campus members are no longer suffering in silence."

Victoria Burns

Recovery on Campus: Mount Royal University Chapter

At the MRU Recovery on Campus chapter, we endeavor to:

  • Foster a supportive environment where students, staff, and faculty in recovery feel welcomed and valued.
  • Provide accessible resources to aid individuals in their recovery journey, including peer support, educational programming, and community partnerships.
  • Cultivate awareness and understanding about recovery, reducing stigma, and encouraging open dialogue about substance use and mental health.
  • Support and celebrate diverse recovery pathways, recognizing that each person's journey is unique and deserves respect and encouragement.

By nurturing a culture of inclusivity and hope, ROC at MRU aims to empower campus members to thrive in recovery and contribute to a stronger, healthier community.
