Service milestones

The efforts of our employees who support the University in achieving its mission of providing meaningful and engaged learning opportunities, deserve to be recognized and celebrated. MRU appreciates and thanks employees for their time and dedication to realizing this vision. Starting at the first-year milestone, listed below are the milestones that are celebrated at the institutional level along with the item of recognition provided for each.

An acrylic award commemorating 10 years of service.


$100 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Fifteen years

$150 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Twenty years

An acrylic award commemorating 20 years of service.


$200 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Twenty-five years

$250 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Thirty years

An acrylic award commemorating 30 years of service.


$300 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Thirty-five years

$350 addition to the employee HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Forty years

An acrylic award commemorating 40 years of service.


$400 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Forty-five years

$450 in addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Fifty years

An acrylic award commemorating 50 years of service.


$500 addition to the employee’s HSA/PSA or scholarship donation.

Retirement

As employees begin a new journey, Mount Royal University celebrates and thanks them for the time and dedication they have given to ensuring Mount Royal continues to be a place where all members of our community: students, staff, faculty, and alumni learn, grow and develop.

Each retiree receives a token of appreciation from the University along with a number of benefits that continue past employment including:

  • A OneCard which indicates the employee is retired. This entitles the retiree to:
    • Riddell Library borrowing privileges
    • Recreation access
  • Parking Option
  • Tuition Reimbursement
    • Retired employees are eligible to receive reimbursement for 100% of the regular tuition fee for Mount Royal credit courses (exclusions apply) up to a maximum amount of $500 per fiscal year, and 100% of the tuition fee for Mount Royal non-credit courses up to a maximum amount of $250 per fiscal year, to be reimbursed upon successful completion of the course.
