Allan Dwyer is a CFA charterholder and former investment banker. He teaches courses in finance and markets, as well as the finance capstone course. Dr. Dwyer's PhD is in history. He researches early financial markets, financial crises, and the development of financial and accounting norms in colonial settings. He is currently completing a book manuscript on merchant finance and credit in the eighteenth century, and the role of protocapitalism in the genocide of the Beothuk First Nation of Newfoundland.
