BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Ken Bowen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Management and Human Resources at the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University. His teaching philosophy integrates his academic training, industry experience, and classroom learning and is comprised of fostering learning through engagement, integrating practice into theory, and continual learning. Dr. Bowen’s research interest has focused on decision behavior under uncertainty, particularly the influence of loss sensitivity on maximizing the expected decision value. His move to academia was preceded by a successful career in industry, where he was responsible for building wholesale and retail commodity businesses, entailing business strategy, operational leadership, financial management, energy trading and sales, and developing high- functioning teams. At MRU, he combines academics with his extensive industry experience to deliver an engaging and participatory learning experience and to mentor students in developing their capabilities.
